Date of registration: 15 August 1919, originally as The Australian Textile Workers Union.
The organisation and its branches are all reporting units for the purposes of financial reporting.
The organisation has 2 branches:
- the New South Wales South Australian Tasmanian Branch, and
- the Victorian Queensland Western Australian Branch.
The management of the organisation is vested in the National Council, which comprises the Branch Secretary and the Assistant Branch Secretary of each branch together with extra National Councillors depending on number of members within each branch.
The National Executive of the organisation consists of the Office Bearers of the organisation and the National Trustees. Each branch is governed by a Branch Committee.
All office positions within the organisation are elected for a term of 4 years. These elections are conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission.
